Perk Levels unlock at stage 4
Your perk level can be found in the perks tab of the quests (see below) and has two functions.

Chest Card Boost
When you buy the challenge pass, your perk level dictates what percentage of extra cards (excluding legendary cards) you get whenever you open a chest (excluding fortune chests). It starts off at 0% at level 1 and increases 5% with each perk level, until the maximum of 50% at perk level 11.
So for example, if you are on Stage 13 and get an epic chest, you would normally get 30 epic cards. However, if you are on perk level 6 and have purchased the challenge pass, you would get 37 epic cards. If you were on perk 9, you would get 42 epic cards.
Card Exchange Quest
Every day you will be offered an exchange quest, to exchange common, rare and epic cards for epic and legendary cards. Your perk level dictates what level your clubs must be at to exchange for the epic or legendary card on offer that day.
The club levels are set and look like this:
- Perk 1 requires commons at level 5, rares at level 3 and epics at level 1
- Perk 2 requires commons at level 6, rares at level 4 and epics at level 2
- Perk 3 requires commons at level 7, rares at level 5 and epics at level 3
- Perk 4 requires commons at level 8, rares at level 6 and epics at level 4
- Perk 5 requires commons at level 9, rares at level 7 and epics at level 5
- Perk 6 requires commons at level 10, rares at level 8 and epics at level 6
- Perk 7 requires commons at level 11, rares at level 9 and epics at level 7
- Perk 8 requires commons at level 12, rares at level 10 and epics at level 8
- Perk 9 requires commons at level 13, rares at level 11 and epics at level 9
- Perk 10 requires commons at level 14, rares at level 12 and epics at level 10
- Perk 11 requires commons at level 15, rares at level 13 and epics at level 11
The second requirement to exchange, is a required number of cards.
You must have BOTH the clubs at the required level (or above) AND the number of cards required spare to exchange.
If you have your club level at a higher level but do not have the spare cards, you will not be able to do the exchange.
You cannot go back down a club level to free up cards.
You will see if you have met the requirements by either seeing an exclamation mark or a tick next to each requirement, as shown below.
In the first example neither of the clubs are at the required level (the level appears in red), in the second example both clubs are at the required level (the level appears in white).

The number of cards required to complete the exchange is at the bottom. This depends on the card you are being offered to exchange and the number of cards you are being offered.
For each rare card you are asked for 5 common cards across both club types.
For example 10 common cards and 10 common cards for 4 rare cards (the minimum you will be offered).
Or 12 common cards and 13 common cards for 5 rare cards.
For each epic card you are asked for 25 common cards, or 5 rare cards for each of the two clubs in the exchange.
So from the example above you can see because there are 11 moon cards being offered you are being asked for 25 x 11 common cards.
In the second example there are 3 dragon cards being offered so you are being asked for 5 x 3 rare cards and 25 x 3 common cards.
For each legendary card you are asked for 800 common cards, 160 rare cards or 16 epic cards for each of the two clubs in the exchange.
Once you complete the exchange you will see the claim button appear, this gives you coins, quest points and perk points.

You do not have to click the claim button!
Only claim if you are moving up to your next perk level.
Your chest card boost on the perk tab will show you how near you are to the next perk level.
Frequency of legendary exchange offers
GR claims sometimes that exchanges are random and not based on your perk level, yet when asked by others, GR say it is based on your perk level.
We have seen answers from GR stating these contradictions. What we do know for certain is what legendary you will be offered is definitely random.
A player had two accounts, one was on P6 and the other P9. Both were on the same stage.
He had always regarded perk 6 as the sweet spot, di not cost a huge amount to upgrade the clubs for exchanges and get a reasonable amount of legendary offers in exchange. However, he was curious whether a higher perk level would produce more legendary exchanges.
He monitored how many legendaries he was offered in the exchanges over 6 seasons (12 weeks) along with some other players. My results were pretty shocking.
Perk 6 – 27 legendaries over the 6 seasons
- 3 x scorpion
- 9 x bone claw
- 1 x shuttle
- 5 x hawk
- 2 x unicorn
- 1 x peacock
- 3 x cardinal
- 2 x phoenix
- 1 x BW
Perk 9 – 47 legendaries over the 6 seasons
- 7 x scorpion
- 11 x bone claw
- 5 x hawk
- 4 x shuttle
- 10 x unicorn
- 4 x Phoenix
- 4 x cardinal
- 2 x BW
So that is 57% more legendaries over 6 seasons with perk 9. This is in line with what the other participants in the research were offered.
So, on that evidence we would say that if you have the cards, and can do it, start upgrading and moving your perk level upwards. It is definitely worth it in the long run.
It might cost a lot but once done you can continue reaping the rewards season after season.
However, do not move up until you have your clubs upgraded (and make sure you have enough spare cards to complete at least one exchange), nothing is more frustrating than being offered a decent legendary and not having the required level or cards to exchange.
Plus at the highest level you really want to upgrade during the discount period: if you buy the challenge pass, that 20% discount makes a lot of difference when you get to the higher perk levels; just for example, at perk level 11 your upgrades are 400.000 each.
Once you get to the maximum perk level, you can claim the perk reward points and accompanying coins and quest points every time you exchange.
